About
First generation Swazi on one side, and 4th gen from eastern Europe on the other, I hail from Santa Monica and West LA. At a young age I was hyper aware of being big, biracial, and multicultural. I took refuge in movies, word-play, jazz, folk, and pop music. I sang, danced, and mimicked before becoming a flautist for years, then an athlete, and finally an actor, in spaces which forged a new sense of somatic wholeness.
Theatre became my profession while studying creative writing as an undergrad in the Bay Area. After an extra-curricular music class, I was invited to sing jazz and spirituals in the world premiere of a Marcus Gardley play in Berkeley. The world opened up as a place for storytelling, and my role in it as a multi-hyphenate artist. The best framework for my teaching, creating, and movement work is intersectionality, interdependence, and other practices of integration.
